A friend began this piece almost 20 years ago when I was in divinity school. Life has taken some unexpected twists and turns since then, but, when she heard I was being ordained, she pulled it out, finished it with the new date, and had it framed. We can rarely take up life where we left it off, but sometimes the road comes back to meet itself in unexpected places and ways.
